FuckPunk, the label headed up by DJ Ape and DJ Oa$is (better known as Young Echo artists Vessel and Ossia), release a three-track, 40-minute album from MXLX, one of many aliases from Matt Loveridge (who, as well as releasing records as Fairhorns, Gnar Hest, and Team Brick, is also a member of the band Beak>). Produced by DJ Ape, the impossible-to-say-aloud ^___^ is abrasive but not aimless. Loveridge crams the disc with noise, DIY electronics, black metal dirges, and broken guitar lines, but there are weirdly symphonic moments in it that prove there’s an actual sense of direction behind it. Hand-stamped and released in a limited run of 250 vinyl copies, the release comes in an oversized polythene sleeve and contained a foldout colour poster designed by MXLX on Microsoft Paint.
