d’Eon debuts on Kuedo and Joe Shakespear’s label Knives with an album of material recorded by the experimental musician/composer in 2012, back when he was still signed to Hippos in Tanks. The tracks here all sound quite bonkers, and that’s because the process of their creation was a very specific one: the tracks travel forward and backwards in MIDI time, with short loops written to be harmonically sound regardless of direction. The concept behind the composition might only make sense to the most seriously trained of musicians, but thankfully the music is aurally pleasing on a more basic level, meaning any experimental music fans can get stuck into it.
