Former Vex’d man Roly Porter signing to Tri Angle was enough to send crater-sized shockwaves through our electronic music world, tremors as big as the bass pressure that he is renowned. The trio of LPs released on his own Subtext label set the bar high in abstract, meditative, contemporary music. Perhaps his closest sonic peer is fellow Tri Angler(er) Haxan Cloak, so it makes sense that his fourth LP will land on Robin Carolan’s label. The press matter speaks of a “coming to terms with his goal of leaving dance music as it is, free to explore ideas of rhythm, bass, sound design within his own world without having to shape any of these elements to fit preconceived ideas or rules”. Sounds ruddy exciting to us.
