Adrian Sherwood’s fabled On-U Sound label reissue an unlikely record from Jeb Loy Nichols. Nichols is a musician from Texas who went to art school in New York where he lived in an apartment with Don Cherry and members of Talking Heads, amongst others. While visiting London during the early 1980s he checked up on Don Cherry’s daughter Neneh, who was staying with Sherwood and Ari Up at the time. Though Nichols recorded some tracks with Sherwood, they never saw a release, and it took 30 years for the two to end up recording a full album together. The result, Long Time Traveller, received a Japan-only release back in 2010 but has gained a small following in the years since, and is now receiving its first international release.
