Recorded in Virginia's Powhatan Correctional Facility on September 14th 1979, Eyes Of Love is now re-issued through Numero Group. Written and recorded by prisoners serving sentences of up to 60 years in a facility just outside Virginia, the brand of incarcerated soul and funk on this LP still sounds as jarringly free today as it did first time round. Made up of empty ballads, hopeful lamentations to freedom and truly authentic examples of shackled talent, the concept of this LP alone made it instantly iconic – the fact that the music was brilliant in its own right was just a bonus.
