Peckham-dwelling musician Reginald Omas Mamode IV returns to the Five Easy Pieces label with a new, elongated EP called We Are The Universe. Musically the EP draws on jazz, soul, and dusty Parrish-esque house music - influences that should be familiar to any fans of Mamode or of fellow artists in the 22a collective like Mo Kolours, Al Dobson Jr, and Tenderlonious. The EP uses live percussion, warm keys, and Mamode’s own voice, all recorded without a computer and without quantization, giving the whole thing a sense of looseness and freedom.
