City Slang reissue the third album from San Diego, California post-rock musician Jimmy LaValle aka The Album Leaf. Originally released in 2004, In A Safe Place was notable for being recorded in Iceland at Sigur Ros’s Sundlaugin studio, with LaValle having been invited there after playing a few shows with the band. Besides being made in their studio, the album also features Sigur Ros's string section Amiina, and collaborations with the band’s Jonsi as well as members of fellow Icelandic group Mum. From that cast of characters, you should be able to guess at the album's sound: In A Safe Place is sweet-sounding and delicately arranged, blissful but not boring.
