Los Angeles artists drops this debut EP for Hit and Run. As a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and general creative figure, there is an eclecticism to Trigger. All based around the timeless subject matter of heartbreak, Scaturro channels D’Angelo circa Voodoo and Prince circa For You in a swell of sultry R&B that floats atop minimal production. Stroller sounds like it could have been one of FlyLo’s stunning interludes of Kendrick’s last LP while Koma’s auto-tuned bionic balladry is a clear child of Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak. It’s a seriously exciting debut offering from this genre-busting soul-man.
