Bleep

The second volume in Kid606’s ambient series uses field recordings and relaxed gamelan-influenced synthesizers to create a lush sound world. The tracks are named after the Californian locales dotted around Joshua Tree, where Kid606 recorded much of the album: ‘Big Sur’, ‘Yucca Valey’, ‘Lost Horse Mine’, etc. Devoid of any drums, the tracks here have a limitless, meditative quality, but there’s also an understated darkness to them that occasionally breaks through.
