Andrew Johnson reappears under a new guise for this welcome return to the shelves of Home Assembly Music. As the explicit title suggests, this is top-shelf techno with a focus on repetition and simplicity. Johnson weaves together bold components and creates hypnotic, floor-facing sounds that belong to no particular era. The titular opener is a full-throttle techno belter that Johnson will undoubtedly relish in unleashing live. Belle Ile En Mer Dub Night explores a kind of groove-driven, fragmented strand of house music while the epically titled closer finds him in full sonic architect mode – melding together vocal loops and fuzzy percussion sections to cap the release off with a real Opus.
