Pino Donaggio is an Italian composer of film soundtracks. His first feature was the incredible Nic Roeg directed British Horror, Don’t Look Now which was swiftly followed up in 1976 with Brian De Palma’s Carrie - serious credentials. The 70s also saw him score Horror movies for Argento and then in 1979 he wrote the music for David Schmoeller’s mannequin on the rampage teen-slasher, Tourist Trap. Premier reissues imprint Waxwork here turns up a deluxe OST reissue for Halloween 2015. The sonics have a wonderfully sinister 70s feel; all scratchy harps, staccato strings, and wobbly, scraping woodblock percussion hits and eerie vocal breathing. As is the norm. Check the goodies you get with this bad-boy: 180 Gram Blood Red with Black Marble Vinyl, includes new artwork by Marc Schoenbach of Sadist Art Designs Composer, liner notes by Pino Donaggio, Director liner notes by David Schmoeller, heavyweight Tip-On Gatefold sleeve, plus an 11”x11” art print.
