Special new collaboration this one. Oto Hiax are a duo comprised of Mark Clifford (from Warp / Too Pure post-rock outfit, Seefeel) and Scottish producer Scott Douglas Gordon a.k.a Black Acre beat-smith Loops Haunt. The pair formed in 2011, Brighton, southern England. Lark is the first fruits of their labour, with many more works promised. The EP stands out as a perfect marriage between the glacial, spooked drone of Seefeel and the broken neo-IDM abstractions of the Loops Haunt sound, where the latter smashes the rhythm-matrix with bruising percussion (fed through the mangle), Clifford adds a layer of stately ambience and heart-wrenching counter melody.
