Modeselektor’s excellent 50 Weapons label was limited to 50 releases from the outset, and as the imprint enters its final phase it gives space to some of the artists that built the label’s identity. Cosmin TRG, who released two albums through 50 Weapons between 2011 and 2013, offers a track called ‘Narr Day’. The ‘Remodulated’ mix of the track is a suspenseful piece of techno designed primarily for DJ use, but the original version is more peculiar and perhaps more enticing. It’s sparse, with a steady drum rhythm anchoring a growling, mutating bassline and little else more – the result is wild.
