Although best known today as a member of Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder family, Mono/Poly’s first album was a previously digital-only release called Paramatma, put out in 2010 by North Carolina-based label Tasteful Licks. Mono/Poly’s world on Paramatma is one of astral synths and ribcage-cutting basslines, but more than abstract beatmaking, there is a decisively political bent to his music. Samples and track names are critical of geopolitics, instead preaching spirituality and soulfulness. Now, thanks to this double-LP reissue by Hit And Run (who have put out music by Teebs, Kutmah, and Jeremiah Jae in the past), old fans and newcomers alike can possess the album on vinyl for the first time.
