Vancouver’s record store cum party organiser Pacific Rhythm drop the second installment to their Rhythms Of The Pacific series with another first-rate various artists outing. Newcomer Neo Image takes control of the A-side, first with the deep house haze of ‘So’, which brings dusty ambient pads, a murmuring female vocal and punchy analogue drum processing for surefire basement favourite, whereas ‘JR East’ pays homage to Japan’s excellent passenger rail service with its crusty chord drones and cut up beats and hi-hats. On the B-side Flørist offers up ‘112712’, another fine medley of film-coated melody and grainy drums dropped to heavily stoned groove, whilst 1080p’s D. Tiffany rounds off beautifully with her dewy-eyed, dub-laden lullaby ‘Orange Crush (Plush Managements Mix)’.
