Shitkatapult reissue the first three albums from Apparat in one. Those that discovered Apparat’s world through his acclaimed albums Walls and The Devil’s Walk, or through his collaborations with Modeselektor as Moderat, might not be familiar with his earliest records. Where his later material exists in the intersection between electronic production and pop/rock songwriting, these first three records – released in 2001, ’02, and ’03 respectively – explore IDM, minimal house, and glitch techno. Complex rhythms, dense arrangements, and a strange interplay between electronic instruments and acoustic ones like saxophone and clarinet abound on the albums, which have been out of print for years until now.
