Gritty techno experiments from YPY, the project of Osaka-based producer Koshiro Hino, new on Nous. Further shaping the label’s raw machine aesthetics, the Visions EP features five agitated, percussion focussed cuts on the verge of ecstasy. Opening this highly texturised EP is the heavy footed ‘Borei’. ‘Doobidoo’ and ‘Shadow’ are no less densely woven, with the first rounding out the picture with pan like cowbells and crooked synths. The B side's ‘Holy Goof’ practises the stranglehold with a fair amount of squelching and punching, while the EP’s tempo wise comparatively tame closer ‘Smog’ comprises about 73 muted and hidden musical themes underneath its metallic heartbeat.
