Shackleton's Deliverance Series hits number 3 with two bone shaking experiments in sound and rhythm: the project on his Woe To The Sceptic Heart imprint takes on yet unknown voodoo forms. First, choral synths invite us into the peculiar microcosm of ‘Headcleaner’ where splatters of percussion and bass peacefully coexist with rattling rhythms, and runtish, dissonant organs evolve into oscillating wave sounds. ‘In Norwegen ganz verwegen’ seems comparatively minimalistic with Shackleton limiting the amount of sound sources played simultaneously: the choral synths reappear and the repetitive patterns running against each other are reminiscent of Riley’s or early Glass’ compositional techniques.
