Anthony Naples lines up a debut release from newcomer Mio Mio with a heady self-titled EP on his excellent Prohibito stronghold. Opening cut ‘Painted On The Corner’ leads with a loopy, bumpin’ house bounce, which provides the base for a brazen ethnic horn section, at which point the groove unravels into a discordant stammer before finally finding it’s feet again right at the end – for the brave selectors only! Flipside, proceedings are a little smoother with ‘Floral (Nude Mix)’, which cooks up a ram shackled percussive groove bolstered by smudgy chords and heavily filtered micro-detailing, recalling some of the fine works on Sued Records.
