In 2010 Brooklyn four–piece Small Black released their debut LP New Chain. That record rode the reverb-flecked crest of a chill-wave, nestling alongside peers Toro Y Moi, Neon Indian, Washed Out. The group have expanded that sound palette but still keep the haze for this new album on Jagjaguwar. This is their third, recorded in a Brooklyn home studio and featuring the finishing touches by producer Nicholas Vernhes (War on Drugs, Deerhunter) of Rare Book Room Studio. Behind the layers of exquisite analogue reverb lay piano, trumpet, acoustic guitar and synthesiser crafted into delicately heart-breaking Pop matter.
