Parisian imprint Infinè follow up their recent Explorer… comp with this new EP from Berlin based Mexcian traveller, Cubenx. The Banquet release sees him lace up masterful blends of peak-time Murcof squeeze and the minimal programming of Fax into something really special. The title track swells with cinematic grandeur and epic anticipation before we launch into a noise-pop track with Pris Wyland on the hushed vocals. The singer appears again on the skewed Arca trips of ‘Deauville’ before we get treated to the all-enveloping shoegze styles of ‘Blazing’ and ‘Reality Check’ – pitched in deep reverb like the best Telefon Tel Aviv.
