Flying Lotus’ Warp-released L.A EP 1 x 3 was the first in a three part series to compliment the producer’s second (now seminal) LP Los Angeles. The beats span garbled voices and bitty drums on ‘Sleepy Dinosaur’ to the grainy ‘Rickshaw’ that seeps with a middle-eastern edge from its two-string guitar and flute sample. ‘Mr Chippy’ and ‘Robertaflack’ work a more laid-back tone, with seriously loose beats propping up astral-infused melodies; followed by the hard-hitting ‘Paper Crang Gang’ and finally the dreamlike aura of ‘Interference’.
