Berlin producer and Macro creator Stefan Goldmann resurfaces with the introspective Anchors EP. Following the third issue in his Remasters series for his other venture Victoriaville, this three track EP offers illuminating insight into the mind of the commonly menacing techno artist. Dissonance aside, the ‘Fossil Waters’ sounds almost appeasing with its detailed web of Fender bass notes. ‘Nephelin’ has a contemplative feel with its 105 bpm and subtly oscillating ambient keys in the background. Only ‘De-Gauss’ functions as a reminder of Goldmann’s intimidating qualities, unleashing echoing worms of synths against a dense backdrop and grave percussion.
