Munich artist JJ Whitefield (Poets of Rhythm, Karl Hector & the Malcouns) reveals his latest project, Rodinia. Rodinia draw on the exploratory and experimental proto-ambient sounds of krautrock artists like Cluster, Tangerine Dream, and Florian Fricke, and blends it with dub basslines and a more contemporary approach to sampling that should satisfy fans of Kelpe and labels like DC Recordings. Drumside/Dreamside started life as a two-day studio jam using vintage synths and rhythm boxes, but eventually evolved to include overdubs of reeds, guitars, drums, and field recordings that give the album a greater sense of diversity and purpose.
