Prolific Mathematics affiliate Andreas Gehm continues his ascent with another menacing collection of face-vaporizing acid numbers, handcrafted to rip the dance floor in two on his Super Rhythm Trax debut. Following strong contributions from Mike Ash, DMX Krew and more, each piece on the Cologne Ranger EP aligns itself with the now established Super Rhythm Trax aesthetics; setting off with the tweaked out lunacy of ‘I Don’t Dance’, through the nagging 1/16th hi-hats of ‘There’ and the corrosive gyrations ‘Fire Department West’. For ‘Control Your Mind’, Gehm really lets the drum run machines wild, letting off big toms against a wincing synth mutation set into a blanket of grisly machine distortion – you really can’t miss with these.
