The Folklore Tapes imprint take a field trip to Lancashire for this beautifully presented 7" flexi-disc and DVD documentary based around Ginnels. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the terms in the label's own words "Ginnels are spaces in between: the paths and alleys that cut hidden channels through many towns in the north of England. Often following historical routes that pre-date urbanisation" for this issue the researchers at hand are label head David Chatton Barker and frequent collaborators Sam Mcloughlin and Rob St John. The audio book/music tells tales of local folks' experiences and memories of Ginnel's in Lancashire and is a fascinating article about something that many people would not think twice about. Huge props to Folklore Tapes for continuing to discover wonder within the everyday and present it in these magnificently packaged products. LFT III - Ginnel will stand the test of time as one of the most unique jewels within this labels rich discography and a timely reminder of these old fashioned, but not forgotten spaces for crime and twilight liaisons.
