Genres

Berlin based label and promoters extraordinaire Leisure System's Rob Clouth returns with the abstract Hidden Structures EP. Four tracks that take on an industrial strength dose of melodic techno and 4-tab avant-acid. The Smallest Measurable Space starts things off on a tightly built but restrained Autechre indebted techno-not-techno rhythm that slowly rolls its way into a lurching beat while Cracks in the Firmament comes across as a growling bass heavy refix of Mark Fell's recent weightless dynamics. Thin Shell, Inner Void comes close to dance floor functionality but maintains the chewy electro feel of Rob's previous releases while The Galaxy Collapsed into a Point drops the drums for an atmospheric piece to cap things off. Proper teeth grinder this one.

Limited edition print

This super limited edition print has been produced to visualise a self-similarity matrix.

"Self-similarity matrices tell you how similar each part of a track is to every other part. If you imagine two copies of the track laid out diagonally and mirrored to form the top two sides of the square, the brightness of each point inside represents the similarity of the corresponding two parts of the track. These diagrams can reveal structures in the track, such as repeating themes or parts that are the most unique." Rob Clouth
