After a pair of intriguing releases on Diskant, German artist Florian Meyer debuts on Berceuse Heroique under his Don’t DJ alias with another original piece on the Hexentrix EP. The title cut manages to take influences from a range of genres whilst managing to sound completely unique, first laying out tape music-esque screeches before introducing a droning 4/4 bassline and a steadily building array of percussive chimes and chirps that coalesce to give a progressive, wide-eyed, krautrock essence. Over on the B-side, Jordan CGZ (of Juju & Jordash) channels the tripped out, leftfield aroma into something a little (emphasis on little) more suited to the ‘floor, infusing a deep, funked-out bass line and a galvanizing hypnotic techno pulse.
