The Maghreban continues to evade easy categorisation with a set of off-kilter house and techno tracks for Zoot Records, the label he runs under his Dr. Zygote alias. ‘Now Easy’ is a ragga house track that introduces a fat break that nods back to The Maghebran’s hardcore days. It’s accompanied by a ‘142 Dub’ of the tune that turns the track into a dubstep bassbin shaker. ‘Not Good’ is a weird piano dance track that recalls Maurice Fulton, while ‘Hi Top’ follows skittering percussion around some crazed horn sampling.
