Shortly after the release of his full length Radiance and Submission on Brooklyn’s Driftless Recordings, Michael Silver returns to his prolific CFCF moniker for his second album of 2015: The Colours Of Life marks the Montreal musician's debut on Rich McFarlane’s cassette label 1080p, and might just be one of his most powerful works to date. Conceived in a tiny one-room apartment Silver was sharing with his then girlfriend in Paris, the 41-minute album is comprised of 12 instrumental pop songs morphing into each other, with fragments of sublime balearic melodies reoccurring in variations throughout. Inspired by the corny melodies of the early 80s Phil Collins, it’s the sexy saxophone solos that tell the album’s optimistic story which of course comes to the happiest ending: when the ultimate pop song ‘Imagination’ leads to the grande gestured finale of ‘Return’, you can’t help but believe in eternal love, world peace and happiness.
