Noah Lennox drops a surprise August EP in follow-up to his well-received January full-length, Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper. ‘Crosswords’ was a highlight from that record and here receives a minor-revision, exclusive for the EP. Pete ‘Sonic Boom’ Kember was the producer on these sessions and his soaring, reverb-addled psych-skills are well on display here. ‘Crosswords’ (EP Mix) feel fuller and wider, new tunes ‘No Mans Land’ and ‘Jabberwocky’ land head-mangling blows in sampledelia and Lennox’s trademark soprano has rarely sounded sweeter on the suffocated Pet Sounds-glow of ‘Cosplay’. ‘The Preakness’ (an older song c.2011), meanwhile gets a re-rub in the Dan Deacon gone Beatles fashion.
