Lead cut ‘Try Me (I’ll Funk You)’ opens with a vocodered voice telling us, “Seven… Let’s Go Back In Time”, which is something of a misnomer as he actually takes us to a cyber-galactic Motor City, Motown gone saw-tooth bass, Solar System Four Tops. Brainfeeder / Fat City alumnus and LA Beat Scene veteran Charles Dickerson a.k.a Mono/Poly takes on remix duties on the digi-flip, stripping matters down to a perfect astral-groove: all jazz piano and Thundercat shuffle.
