Kit Records invites us into the whimsical fantasyland of Bristol-based illustrator and musician Adam Higton aka Cosmic Neighbourhood with Collages I. Higton’s day dreamy sonic bytes are constructed to accompany his fanciful scissor and paper abstractions, with the music also taking on a collage methodology, arranged from the fragments of fluttery modular synths, petered drum machine beats and bizarre samples that all radiates a type of innocent child-like nostalgia. From the filtered synth wash of ‘Hedgehog’ to the garbling reverse oscillations of ‘Gone Fishing’ and the pensive squirm of ‘Tree Faces’, Collages I is as uplifting as it is escapist.
