Silicon is the alias of New Zealand multi-instrumentalist Kody Nielson. Kody is the brother of Ruban Nielson, who creates music under the name Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and he worked alongside Ruban as co-writer/co-producer of UMO’s third album Multi-Love. Personal Computer continues the present-day disco sound that Kody helped establish on Multi-Love, but takes it into more unconventional, idiosyncratic territories. ‘Submarine’ sounds like somebody who hasn’t heard a Daft Punk song in 15 years trying to imitate their memory of Daft Punk, while ‘Little Dancing Baby’ recalls the work of disco auteur Gino Soccio.
