Produced during the run up to the 2015 General Election, UK techno figurehead Perc turns in this EP for his own label, Perc Trax. There is definitely a charged, sociopolitically driven undertone to this EP. As the title track embodies perfectly, the eyes-down, slicing surge of sounds at play don’t come from any kind of equilibrium. The sounds of Gob are still sharp though. The focus gets even tighter on Gruel – a cut Perc described as a “call to arms” – and the closer Change To Win manages to create a kind of techno lamentation to a flawed democracy. Inventive and rewarding stuff from an experienced head.
