Guitarist Zane Morris showcases remarkable technical ability as well as a handle on productional experimentation on this release for True Panther. Originally composed for a screening of Frederick Armitage & A.E. Weed’s 1902 picture Seeing New York by Yacht- the pieces on My New Murex share the same moody, left-field qualities as the movie. Occasionally the music is fairly stark and minimal but Morris employs a conveyor belt of mantra-like loops and arpeggiating refrains to create atmosphere and energy. While they might have been put together for the screening, these cuts work standalone as trio of avant-garde mini-masterpieces.
