Tadd Mullinix aka Dabrye and D'Marc Cantu team up once again as 2AM/FM for a solid LP of house and techno textures. Following releases on labels such as Spectral Sound and Crème Organization, the self-titled EP marks Ann Arbor duo’s debut on the local Bopside imprint, launched in 2014 by Mullinix himself. Although their Detroit area upbringing is still audible in their productions, the sound of Chicago’s Trax remains their main pillar — with excursions to italo disco, galactic and acid house. 2AM/FM wear their hardware heart on their sleeve, which makes their work all the more vivid and dynamic: showcased accordingly in the form of organically seething synths on ‘Midnight Social’ or the hypnotic layering of ‘Highrise Games’.
