Pure murder from Ossia on Blackest Ever Black. Having made a name for himself as part of the Young Echo collective outta Bristol (also oversees RWDFWD, Hotline, Peng! Sound & NoCorner imprints) Red X is the first solo material to emerge from Ossia and it fits perfectly into the BEB vanguard. Starting off with an absolutely skin-crawling dub techno in the most decayed sense 9 and a half minutes crawl of Red X, heavily influenced by a reel-to-reel recording of Peter Tosh documenting frustration and dissatisfaction of city life under the rule of Babylon up to his murder in 87, the heavily saturated snare drums cascade forward while the evil atmospheres and smoke curl around creating a suffocating sewer skank. Ice & Blood takes a more psychedelia route of a trip gone wrong where the music literally feels like it's clawing its way out of the speakers and scratching itself into the inside of your head while the 12" closes with a dub mix of the track, dread at the control.
