The awesomely-named Slim Twig is a prolific songwriter/producer from Toronto whose scattershot discography has displayed a healthy disregard for genre. Between producing albums for U.S. Girls and scoring films, Slim Twig has signed to DFA Records for Thank You For Stickin’ With Twig, which envisions old school rock’n’roll as post-modern collage in the vein of pop deconstructionists like Beck and, more recently, Jib Kidder. Twig’s music is virtuosic and symphonic, while his lyrical targets are the legends of rock music – usually white, and usually male. Song titles pun on The Rolling Stones (‘Textiles On Main Street’), while ‘A Woman’s Touch (It’s No Coincidence)’ is told from the perspective of The Beatles’ wives, creating something that’s both smart and sensitive.
