Giovanni Napoli arrives under the Somec moniker for a modular-led EP which exists in the purgatory between a dream and a hellish nightmare. For the most part, there is a simple, industrial thematic thread running through this EP. Napoli weaves thick soundscapes in with looming undercurrents to create tension and brittle textures on cuts like Incertezza. Developing atmosphere is Somec’s greatest skill. Skan - for example - has all the looming danger and overarching unease one might expect from a Lynchian soundtrack but ran through a filter of modular expertise.
