The Scroggins ladies are back with a new album, the first one in some time for London's excellent Soul Jazz label. ESG are one of those bands that hipsters endlessly try and emulate but always get wrong simpy because there is something about the band that make them very special.

The incredible streetwise shtick, the minimal cerebral drums, bass and hip vocals are all here on this new album but the ladies bring some depth to their songs, maybe it's because they're not teenagers anymore but there is some reflection here among the calls to get up and dance. Very good stuff, so pay it some attention.
