Folklore Tapes continue to dig deep into the undergrowth of British folklore with the first title in the Oxfordshire Folklore Tapes series with the tale of Michael Pan and the Sandford Lasher as told through field (literally) recordings and ghostly passages of traditional music composed and performed by The Green Funz & Jody Sydney Smith. On May 19th 1921 Michael Pan was said to have drowned in the weir pool just under the infamous Sandford Lasher, we don't know much about that but as ever there is a beautifully designed 'research' booklet included with the cassette so you can lose yourself in the tales of old Oxfordshire both audibly and imaginatively, these always fly out never to be seen again so if you are a long time admirer of the label or a newcomer there are many hidden treats to be found once you wonder down the paths, just be careful to stay away from the weir pool on your journey.
