German techno institution René Pawlowitz resurfaces with timely, 90s-styled material. Following 2013’s TFExx1 and 2015’s For The Kingdom under different monikers, Constant Power is the first instance of him revealing himself as Shed on his The Final Experiment imprint, conceived in the realm of Hardwax Berlin. Much like its predecessors, the EP outlines a more nostalgic approach while at the same time sounding fresh and unspent. Both 'Break up III tk4.’ (who would have guessed) and ‘Up The Hills’ break up their beats, but not without conveying two very different moods: Pawlowitz sneaks a voluminous bass-accentuated kick-drum into the opener, icing the ground work with creamy synth pads, whereas ‘Up The Hills’ moves away from the 4/4 towards heavy syncopation.
