Irish producer Detboi joins the extended family of Dusk + Blackdown’s eternally on-it Keysound Recordings label with the Scatter EP. Detboi has been producing for years now, dropping breaks-heavy fidget and bassline tracks on labels like Cheap Thrills in the past, but in recent times he’s come to embrace a rougher, ruder, darker sound. Here he chops up hardcore and jungle breaks, throws in some grimy basslines, and brings it all down to a club-primed garage house tempo. Dusk + Blackdown rinsed these tracks as dubplates both in the clubs and on the radio prior to the EP’s release, so they’ve all been tried, tested, and proven to do the business.
