New Berceuse Heroique sub label Ancient Monarchy present their second release, and it's very much in keeping with their promise of delivering some "raw UK shit". Gramrcy drops the aptly titled Ruffian EP on the label, with fellow Bristolian Hodge and Hessle Audio affiliate Bruce on remix duties. It’s Gramrcry’s debut release: the title track is as jungle as it gets — the wild, overgrown type, with tigers roaring from its thicket. The pitched-down explorations of ‘Bargain Jam's’ seem no less dangerous, its curious soundboxes resonating on the lowest of audible frequencies. Whereas Bruce only imposes subtle rhythmic structure, Hodge adds some muscle to the mix.
