The only disadvantage of an output as prolific as Bobby Womack’s is the odd LP slipping the net and getting overlooked. Save The Children is one of those hidden gems. It was Womack’s only LP for US super-producer Dick Griffey’s imprint and it showcased a thrilling mix of Bobby’s far-reaching influences. Too Close For Comfort stands out as one of his finest ever ballads, How Can It Be finds him at his most socially conscious and bold and the title track blends 1980s soul with the club-focused hip hop of the era to create a pop single of the highest order. For Womack fans, this is nothing short of essential.
