Bjork enlists the help of Katie Gately to re-fashion Family, taken from her recent Vulnicura album. As a standout track from the LP, the remodel brought forward by Gately adds a whole new dimension to Bjork’s glassy vocal. As a fellow luminary of the conventional “pop song”, Gately maintains a focus on the melody but brings in a screeching array of synths and delay effects to reach an agonisingly beautiful climax. Remixes always work best when the remixer understands the vision of the original artist, this is most definitely one of those examples.
