Björk has engaged Janus wunderkind Lotic to reimagine her song ‘Notget’ from 2014’s Vulnicura. The Berlin-based producer took the original apart, extracting its two essential sentiments, mourning and eulogy. This resulted in two different versions of the remix, ‘Fromdeath’ exploring the bliss, and this part, ‘Keptsafe’, the sorrow conveyed on ‘Notget’. Lotic transforms the frantic beat into something textural. Much as the original, his reinterpretation mimics the emotional experience in elastic rhythms, but instead of suffocating Björk’s vocals in an avalanche of aggressive punches, he spaces them out, giving her room to express her pain, only condensing them as her feelings grow more intense.
