Nobody likes Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds do they? Well all that could change thanks to Jonny Trunk who, with a little help from Stewart Lee has discovered and reissued one of the maddest LP's you are ever likely to hear: Alan Jefferson's Galactic Nightmare. A kind of punk tribute/cover version/rip it up and start again version of Jeff Wayne's millions of pounds production but made in a shed in Hull in the late 70s and early 80s. It's basically a library disco LP with a sci-fi narrative and story running all the way through by this sound scientist who was so far ahead of his time it's taken us almost 30 years to catch up. Jefferson wrote the story, composed all the music, played it, engineered it, designed the artwork and then released it himself on cassette and listed it for sale for £4.99 a piece in the back of magazines such as Future Music in the 1980s. Fast forward to the modern day and now everyone can enjoy this beautifully produced and absolutely nuts album that once you hear it's unlikely you will ever forget.
