With 3 of the cuts striding well past the 10-minute mark, the theatrics lie in the detail on Artefacts digitaux. Tracks like G/T_Y exercise a kind of chilling industrial ambient sound that draws as much of a cerebral response as it does an auditory one. D/J_M is another standout cut where moments of short-lived neon-lit euphoria are dragged back down in to the gloomy underpass through an inventive and emotive use of synths. All this across a 22 minute-canvas. Like all good examples of ambient mastery, Artefacts digitaux morphs and changes dramatically across its running time but often without the listener noticing.
